My vow to you

I apologize. I've been very neglectful lately. Of blog writing, especially, but even with posting new content. I blame it on the fact that I'm one person doing what a team should be, but in reality, I should be able to find a way to make things happen, with or without help. So here and now I promise to be better. I promise to make you my priority. Because whether you're reading this right as I post it or days, weeks, months or years down the road, you are why this show exists, and you are more important than anything.

So here's my plan. I'm sharing it in hopes that you'll keep me accountable. I want to start updating every day. Blog posts, video content, podcasts, social media. I'm creating a schedule, and although I'm sure I'll fail from time to time, I intend to stick to it as much as I can.

  • Monday: Mission Monday blog post; Musings Monday video (initially the 1st Monday of the month)
  • Tuesday: Twitter Tuesday - respond to all Tweets and maybe even do an AMA; Interview segment video; Hero of the Week blog
  • Wednesday: Wishful Wednesday blog post
  • Thursday: Throwback Thursday favorite video cover; Throwback Thursday blog post
  • Friday: Interview segment video; Foibles Friday (specifically, my foibles, of which I have many)
  • Saturday: Superhero Saturday blog (not about the fictional characters, but about people and organizations that do awesome things)
  • Sunday: Songwriter Sunday playlist update; Storytime Sunday blog (where I write about whatever didn't fit the rest of the week, or maybe make up something)

Not impossible, right? And some of that may change. I may add to some things, too (there aren't many plans for Twitter at the moment). If you have any suggestions, comments or just words of encouragement, I'd appreciate them! Like I said, this is all for you.

Testing... Testing... 1, 2, 3...

We’ve all seen it; the performer, the athlete, the scholar that chokes on a performance. The person that’s supposed to be top in her field and yet fails at a simple task. As viewers we wonder how she could have possibly been considered one of the best, maybe even think that we could do it better than she can. What we don’t see are the countless hours she put into rehearsing, the tens and hundreds of times she nailed it, even when not trying her hardest. No, all we see is that in her one moment to shine and show the world what she can do, she failed.

This isn’t another blog post to encourage you to go out and do great things. This one is about me. For the past three weeks I’ve been working on getting the first episode of Show and Talk out for you. It’s not even a full episode, it’s one of the “teaser” episodes until we’re able to shoot the show we want to give you. This should have been easy. I created the exact same type of thing a few months ago in less than a day. But this time it seems the cards are stacked against me and one thing after another happens to push me back a little further. I feel like I’m in a maze and keep running into dead ends, only to back track and find another path.

The good news about mazes is they all have a clear finish line.
The bad news is, there’s no guarantee how long it’ll take to get there.

I share this, in part, to apologize. For those of you who have been following along with this journey for awhile, I feel like I keep talking and talking but don’t make any action. Trust me, I’m trying my hardest. The other part to this, though, is to show my struggles. Once the first couple of episodes come out, they won’t be perfect. There were errors made while recording the interviews and lots of things I still haven’t perfected about the editing process. But I’m not giving up. In large part because of friends and fans who are really excited to see this happen. So thank you, all of you. And I’ve learned a ton already, of what to do and what not to do, so once we start going it’s only going to get better and better.

If all starts falling into place, we should have the first episode of our Beta season up by the 17th. Technical difficulties aside, I’m really excited about it. I hope you will be, too.
